Sports Hall of Fame
A four-year starting goalkeeper for the Sailfish, Yurchak helped guide the Sailfish to four straight NCCAA Region Championships. He is the program's all-time leader in career saves (338), saves per game (4.12), wins (46), shutouts (16) and goalie minutes played (7,070).
He was a NCCAA All-American in 2007 and 2008 as the Sailfish racked up 14 and 13 wins during those two years. During his time in West Palm Beach the Sailfish posted a 46-29-9 record. Yurchak posted seven shutouts during the 2007 season and followed that up with six more as a junior in 2008. He holds the school's single-season saves record with 123, set in 2006, and has four of the top five seasons in that category. Not only a great athlete, Yurchak was also a NCCAA Scholar Athlete during his playing days.
Since graduating from PBA in the spring of 2010, he's spent the past eight years in the education field. He currently resides in Nashville, Tenn. with his wife Caity. The couple met as teachers in Atlanta in 2010 and were recently wed last October. Yurchak previously worked for Teach For America in Atlanta and KIPP in West Atlanta for five years. Now, he's an 11th and 12th grade AP Language and AP Psychology teacher at Lead Public Schools in Nashville where he also serves as the English department chair.
