Cheyne Roberts- A versatile and explosive player during his four-year tenure (2006-09) roaming the field for the Palm Beach Atlantic men’s soccer team, Cheyne Roberts becomes the third men’s soccer standout to be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame joining Miguel Lemming and Curtis Lynch.
The Roberts family has a long and storied history within the men’s soccer program as Cheyne has been joined by two of his brothers as members of the team. Older brother Caleb Roberts played for the ‘Fish from 2005-08 while younger brother Cameron began his PBA journey for the 2012 season. Cheyne’s oldest brother Clay also served as an assistant coach for PBA under former head coach Jose Gomez.
Roberts was a highly-decorated player during his tenure on the pitch as he was named to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-American team each of his four seasons while earning PBA’s first NCAA All-Region distinction as a junior and senior.
His accolades also included being named the Most Outstanding Offensive and Defensive Player in successive seasons at the NCCAA National Tournament as a freshman and sophomore while earning the prestigious Kyle Rote Jr. Award by the NCCAA following his senior campaign.
Not just an accomplished athlete Roberts also shined in the classroom as a Rinker School of Business graduate while being named a Scholar All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as a senior.
A native of Plant City, Fla. Roberts competed for Plant City High School before moving on to PBA. Following his collegiate playing career he would move on to compete in the professional ranks for the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer League (USL).
Following his professional playing career Roberts spent time as an assistant coach at Palm Beach Atlantic before being named the head coach and Executive Director of the Ocala Stampede, a club program in the Premier Development League (PDL).
