Ashley “Jones” Capps - It is only fitting that the most decorated PBA softball player in the history of the program becomes the first softball player inducted into the PBA Sports Hall of Fame.

Jones completed a spectacular four-year run with the Sailfish softball program that saw her claim 23 program records as she competed from 2007-10 for head coach Kimmy Bloemers.

The most noteworthy statistical marks in her outstanding career include the all-time Sailfish softball record for career wins (73), strikeouts (979), innings pitched (799), shutouts (33) and earned-run average (1.37).

The best season for Jones would come as a senior in 2010 as she led a memorable charge to the NCAA Regional final while ranking in the nation’s top-10 in earned-run average (1.05, 7th) and total strikeouts (309, 8th) within the NCAA Division II ranks.

Her dominant pitching style led her to being the first PBA softball player named an All-American in the NCAA-era while also claiming NCCAA National Pitcher of the Year honors.

Not only an accomplished performer on the diamond Jones also found high-levels of success as a student as evidenced by her being named the Outstanding Graduate for Elementary Education as a senior.

Prior to suiting up for the ‘Fish, Jones competed at Jensen Beach High School where she would also eventually serve as a pitching coach for her alma mater from 2011-13.

Married to husband Josh Capps in the summer of 2015, Ashley has worked as a first or second grade teacher at Bessey Creek Elementary School in nearby Palm City, Fla. since her graduation. She was named the Bessey Creek Teacher of the Year for the 2013-14 academic year.
