Box Score LA MIRANDA, Calif. – The No. 39 Sailfish women’s tennis team began their California trip Monday, and defeated Biola University by an 8-1 final. The Sailfish improve to 4-4 on the season, while Biola drops to 3-9.
The Sailfish made easy work of the doubles competition Monday, winning all three matches. Kathi Tesar and Taylor Conti won their No. 1 doubles match 8-3. Maja Jovic and Valerie Nagovitcina defeated their Biola opponents by an 8-4 final. In No. 3 doubles, Michaela Mignemi and Teona Tatishvili were victorious by a 8-3 score.
Singles play was much of the same, as the Sailfish won five of six singles matches. Tesar, Nagovitcina, and Tatishvili won their No. 1-3 singles matches in straight sets. At No. 4 singles, Jovic fell to Kelsey Post in a third set tie-break, 2-6, 6-3, 12-10. Conti and Mignemi rolled through their singles matches, as both won 6-0, 6-0.
The Sailfish don’t get much rest, as they play four ranked teams in the next four days. The Sailfish begin this stretch with No. 33 Cal State L.A. at 1:30 p.m. local time Tuesday.
