WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team faced a tough challenge against No. 3 Embry-Riddle on Saturday at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center, bowing out with a 0-7 result on senior day. Despite the final score, the 'Fish shone in the No. 1 doubles match, securing a win, while Embry-Riddle claimed victory across all six singles matches.
PBA dropped the doubles point as the visitors took two of the three doubles matches. Embry-Riddle's Mariana Cabrera and Ashley Moinard cruised to a 6-0 win over
Daniela Ortiz and
Sunshine Tarpey at No. 3 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Daniela Fernandez and Benedetta Sensi bested
Elisa Buhagiar and
Valeria Lopez, 6-2. The 'Fish fought back at No. 1 doubles, where
Virginia Borja and
Alina Hoermann pulled off a tiebreak victory against Laura Cuesta Bret and Amelie Gindl, 7-6(6).
In singles play, Embry-Riddle showed their strength by sweeping all matches. Franzi Kremerskothen started with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over Tarpey at No. 6 singles. Carlota Balseiro followed with another straight-set victory over Ortiz, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles. Sensi clinched the overall win at No. 2 singles, defeating Borja 6-1, 6-2.
Embry-Riddle continued their dominant performance, as Fernandez overcame Lopez 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Gindl secured a 6-3, 6-3 win over Hoermann at No. 1 singles, while Moinard wrapped up with a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory against Buhagiar at No. 4 singles, sealing a comprehensive singles sweep. The match concluded 7-0 in favor of Embry-Riddle.
