WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis team fell to Keiser in a 7-0 match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Keiser swept the courts for the opening point. On court No. 1, the No. 2 ranked duo of Violet Apisah and Patricia Apisah defeated the 'Fish's
Alina Hoermann and
Virginia Borja 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Keiser's Ella Sahnis and Aline Aveiro triumphed over
Elisa Buhagiar and
Valeria Lopez 6-2. The No. 3 doubles match ended with Lena Couto and Veronika Grydnieva of Keiser edging out
Daniela Ortiz and Ciara Tarpey 7-6(2).
Singles play saw Keiser continue their strong performance. Veronika Grydnieva kicked things off at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Tarpey. Sahnis followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Lopez at No. 3 singles. Aveiro dominated at No. 5 singles, defeating Ortiz 6-0, 6-0.
The match was clinched when Violet Apisah, the top-ranked player, bested Hoermann 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Patricia Apisah added another point for Keiser at No. 2 singles, winning 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-2) against Borja. Finally, Lena Couto, ranked No. 74, wrapped up the sweep at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Buhagiar.
