Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Sailfish men’s tennis winning streak came to an end Thursday afternoon, as the ‘Fish fell to No. 27 Point Loma University 5-4. The Sailfish drop to 8-3 on the season with the loss.
The Sailfish dropped two of the three doubles matches Thursday, as Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister’s hot play came to an end losing 8-5. Nicholas Battistini and Fernando Arroyo won for the second consecutive day, as they won by a score of 9-7. In No. 3 doubles, Thomas Salmon and Pietro de Silva fell 9-7.
The Sailfish needed to win four singles matches to complete a comeback, but were only able to win three, as they picked up wins in No. 1, 3, and 5 singles. Uryson needed a third set to win 6-7, 6-0, 10-4. Burmeister also went three sets, but fell 6-2, 2-6, 5-7. Battistini won his match 6-4, 6-1. Playing No. 4 singles was Asti Adams, who lost 6-3, 6-4. Thomas Salmon won at No. 5 singles 6-1, 7-5, while Stanislav Feofilov fell 6-1, 6-0.
The Sailfish are back at it Friday, for their eighth match in 10 days. They will square off with Azusa Pacific at 1 p.m. Pacific time to wrap up their Spring Break trip.
