TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Sophia Miller turned in a top-20 time as the Palm Beach Atlantic women’s cross country team placed fifth at the Florida Runners Invitational on Friday evening.
Miller – a freshman – finished as the top PBA runner for the third time in three races on the year, taking 15th on Friday with a time of 20:18.20, nearly 30 seconds faster than her time a week ago in Gainesville. Lexi Fenton was the second Sailfish across the tape with a time of 21:19.50, good enough for 30th overall in the field of 73. Just seconds after Fenton came Alise Montgomery (21:23.00 – 33rd) and Alyssa Hearing (21:29.40 – 34th).
University of Central Florida’s Holly Wooley paced the field with a time of 17:59.90, finishing 45 seconds ahead of her teammate Kalleigh Forrester. UCF claimed the first four spots on the individual side while taking the team title over Stetson University.
Kayla Webbe finished in a time of 23:23.20 in 53rd to round out the scorers for the Sailfish. Sydney Jones (25:11.70) and Faith Russell (25:33.40) also competed on the night for the ‘Fish.
The team will take next weekend off before heading to the Disney Cross Country Classic in Kissimmee on Oct. 10.
