WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For the second season in program history, the Palm Beach Atlantic women's cross country team is headed to the NCAA Division II National Championships after earning an automatic berth following a historic win at the NCAA South Region Meet on Saturday.
The Sailfish secured their spot in the national field after placing first overall at the South Region meet in Lakeland, Florida. PBA defeated three nationally ranked programs to claim the regional title and solidify its place among the top teams in Division II.
The Sailfish were led by
Beth Sykes, who finished eighth overall with a time of 21:49.82, followed closely by
Dominyka Petraskaite,
Ruth Spijker, and
Jeanne Corroy, with all earning all-region honors.
Erin Regan rounded out the scoring in 32
nd with a time of 22:49.20.
The NCAA Division II National Championships will take place on Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wisc. where the Sailfish will compete against the nation's best programs.
