WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis team was in action against NCAA Division I Duquesne University on Sunday afternoon and took down the Dukes 7-2 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex.
PBA improved their record to 2-2 on the season by taking down a Duquesne squad that had previously lost just one match. The day’s match started on a high note for the Sailfish, with the host sweeping through the doubles competition.
Romain Nowaczyk and Nicholas Uryson took down their opponent 8-3 to open things up for the ‘Fish, while the number two combination of Mark Heimberger and Matt Leeds won by an 8-6 final. Threes duo of Asti Adams and Nicholas Battistini completed the sweep by an 8-5 score.
The Sailfish took care of business on the singles side with victories in the one through four spots. Nowaczyk won a marathon of a match with the Dukes’ Rich Robbie by scores of 6-0, 4-6, and 13-11. Uryson made quick work of his opponent, 6-1, 6-1, and Heimberger was also victorious 7-6, 6-1. With the match in hand, Adams also added a 6-1, 6-3 win in the number four matchup.
Palm Beach Atlantic will travel to Orlando to play Post University in a neutral site match on Tuesday, March 3rd beginning at 4:00 pm. The Sailfish return to the Mitch Gornto Tennis Complex on Wednesday, March 4th when they take on Lewis University at 5:00 pm.
