Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Tuesday afternoon did not turn out to be a kind day to Palm Beach Atlantic pitching. Ten runs and four homeruns allowed were just some of the hard hits against the Sailfish pitching as Northwood University posted a 10-0 win over the Sailfish in afternoon action at Silvester Field. The Seahawks improve to 18-18 on the season while the Sailfish drop to 14-12.
The Seahawks wasted little time in getting runs on the board to support starter Mike Barrington (3-0) as NU right-fielder Keneth Rivero lifted a 2-run homerun over the left-field wall for a 2-0 lead.
Back to work went the Seahawks offense in the third inning as they plated four runs all with two outs. The big blow came on a 3-run homer by Ryan Osenton to push the Northwood lead to 6-0 while Richie Reilly also homered in the inning.
That ended the day for PBA starter Jonathan Kies (2-2) who was tagged for six runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Barrington exited after four innings with only one hit allowed, a first inning single by Travis Murray, as he improved to 3-0.
The Seahawks added a second 3-run homer in the game by fourth as Manny Gonzalez blasted a long shot off PBA reliever Robbie Pettet.
Kenny Frosch would enter and toss two innings while Nic Kovacs got some work with a shutout inning in relief.
PBA will have the remainder of the work week off from game action before hosting Florida Southern College for a weekend series beginning at 6 pm on Friday, April 6th. The game will be played at Jupiter Community Park.
