WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic University Athletic Department announced its yearly award winners on Wednesday evening to celebrate the best and brightest from PBA athletics. All awards were handed out to the student-athletes as the show served as a culmination to the past year of Sailfish athletics, highlighting both accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Below are the nominees and winners of each award.
Athlete of the Year: Awarded to the male and female student-athletes who are considered the top performers at the University.
Winners: Grace Reynolds (Volleyball), Colten Lee (Men's Cross Country/Track), and Tin Vastic (Men's Soccer)
Finalists: Anabel Ellison (Women's Basketball), Dominyka Petraskaite (Women's Cross Country/Track), Angela Goggin (Beach Volleyball), Will Santella (Men's Lacrosse), Preston Le Gassick (Men's Basketball), and Nick Estrada (Men's Golf).
Athletic Director's Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who has exemplified the Christian values on and off the field of competition along with upholding the academic and athletic standards of the Palm Beach Atlantic University Athletics Department.
Winners: Kristina Fardales (Women's Lacrosse), Finley Holmes (Baseball) and Dominic Barnshaw (Men's Lacrosse)
Finalists: Abigail Longstaff (Women's Soccer), Ashlyn Storms (Softball), Harper Stokes (Volleyball), Tyler Burton (Men's Basketball), and Justus Verge (Men's Golf)
Clark Boetel Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who represents the University with outstanding attitude, leadership and servant-hood.
Winners: Nina Gudgeon (Women's Golf), Larken Maseda (Softball) and Espn Pool (Men's Golf).
Finalists: Cameron Ring (Beach Volleyball), Emily Rinaldi (Women's Soccer), Baker Reale (Men's Lacrosse), Milan Visontai (Men's Tennis), Jakob Hester (Men's Basketball), and Jared Murray (Baseball).
Other Nominees: Kaitlyn Gallagher (Women's Lacrosse)
Don Harp Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who is a rising senior who has excelled in competition and demonstrated outstanding Christian leadership.
Winners: Katelyn Nadeau (Beach Volleyball) and Hayden Tank (Men's Cross Country/Track)
Finalists: Taryn Thompson (Women's Lacrosse), Cassidy Norley (Women's Soccer), Jack Bryant (Men's Lacrosse), Livio Von Holzen (Men's Soccer) and Kollin Claridy (Men's Basketball).
Gary Carter Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete that has a love and respect for the game, plays with enthusiasm and heart and is a good role model on and off the field or court. Must have credible statistics.
Winners: Sydney Corbett (Beach and Indoor Volleyball) and Alvin Tumblin Jr. (Men's Basketball)
Finalists: Beth Sykes (Women's Cross Country/Track), KB Hadley (Women's Basketball), Marli Szierer (Softball), Jordan Verge (Men's Golf), Cooper Porter (Men's Lacrosse), Rufus Roth (Men's Soccer), and Marko Visontai (Men's Tennis)
Other Nominees: Maddox Sweeney (Women's Lacrosse), Jordan Lavery (Women's Soccer)
Newcomer of the Year: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who performs at a high-level and makes a sizable impact for their team as a first-year player.
Winners: Ruth Spijker (Women's Cross Country/Track), Katie Galligan (Beach Volleyball), Juan Hermoso (Men's Soccer) and Preston Le Gassick (Men's Basketball).
Finalists: Abby Smith (Women's Golf), Dianna Montidoro (Softball), Colten Lee (Men's Cross Country/Track), and Donovan O'Toole (Men's Lacrosse)
Other Nominees: Peyton Sutton (Women's Lacrosse), Maddie Hulme (Women's Soccer), and Grace Reynolds (Volleyball)
President's Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete with outstanding academic achievements while contributing to their team's athletic success.
Winners: Anna Foreman (Women's Soccer) and Lucas Hoyos (Men's Tennis).
Finalists: Annika Miller (Women's Golf), Georgia Karns (Women's Lacrosse), Alina Hoermann (Women's Tennis), Ethan Storey (Men's Lacrosse), Aedan Lydon (Men's Cross Country/Track), and Graham Worland (Men's Basketball).
Other Nominees: Eduarda Dutra (Volleyball)
Strength and Conditioning Award: Given to a male and female student-athlete who increases or improves their physical fitness through a high commitment level and hard work.
Winners: Nae Jordan (Volleyball) and Ethan Storey (Men's Lacrosse)
Workship Award: Given to a male and female student-athlete who continually demonstrates leadership service through the Workship program.
Winners: Gracie Houtman (Women's Cross Country/Track) and Matthew Young (Men's Tennis)
Fleming Impact Award: Presented to individuals who continue to make a tremendous impact for Sailfish student-athletes.
Winners: Rob and Rachel Hatchett (WestGate Leadership)
