WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic fell to Rollins as they evened up the series with a final score of 20-4 at J.M. Jake Rubin Park on Friday. Despite a four-run rally in the ninth inning, the 'Fish were unable to overcome Rollins' 13-run fourth inning.
Rollins seized control of the game in the fourth inning with a powerful offensive surge, tallying 13 runs. A pivotal fielding error and a wild pitch contributed to the onslaught, allowing Rollins to capitalize on opportunities and extend its lead significantly. Mason Elrod's grand slam punctuated the offensive burst, creating a daunting deficit for the Sailfish.
The Sailfish found some offensive rhythm in the ninth inning, with
Ian Pennington's two-run double and
Louis Paolillo's RBI single sparking a late rally.
Aidan Pierre's RBI single had earlier opened the scoring for PBA in the inning. Despite the late effort, the deficit proved insurmountable as Rollins' earlier dominance had established a commanding lead.
PBA's defense showed moments of promise, including turning a double play in the fifth inning to halt a potential Rollins rally. However, missed opportunities and fielding miscues throughout the game allowed Rollins to maintain control, ultimately defining the outcome.
Ian Pennington delivered a strong performance, finishing with two hits and two RBIs, including a double.
Aidan Pierre contributed with a hit and an RBI, adding one run.
Louis Paolillo also added a hit and an RBI.
The Sailfish return to the Jake for a senior day rubber match on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for noon.
