WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team took down #11 Rollins in game one of the series with a 4-3 victory on Thursday at JM Jake Rubin Park.
The 'Fish secured the win with a balanced offensive effort, totaling 10 hits and taking advantage of three hit-by-pitches.
PBA secured a narrow victory over Rollins with a decisive sequence in the eighth inning.
Raymond Hawkins, pinch-running for
Ian Pennington, advanced to third on a throwing error following a sacrifice bunt.
Santi Scheele then grounded out, allowing Hawkins to score the go-ahead run.
Earlier, the Sailfish had tied the game in the sixth inning with a timely double by
Brandon Castellon, driving in Pennington from first.
Trey Miranda's power was also on display in the first inning with a solo homer, setting the tone for the game. Despite opportunities, Rollins was unable to capitalize in the final innings, leaving the bases loaded in the ninth, as the Sailfish bullpen held firm to close out the win.
Trey Miranda led the offense with his first career home run, a double that one hopped the fence, driving in one run while scoring another.
Ian Pennington contributed two hits and an RBI, also scoring once.Â
