TITUSVILLE, Fla.- Once again on the road, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s cross country team enjoyed a breezy, Fall evening race on a challenging course.  Despite great competition, the Lady Sailfish continued to show individual progression in their 12th place finish at the FLRunners.com Invitational sponsored by Nike.

Head coach Staci LaForte was quite pleased with the team’s results, calling this 5K race the peak of the season.  Individual runners also posted quality performances for the Sailfish, including veteran runner Gloria Flores.

“I am so proud of Gloria for running her career-best time at 26:14.34.  It was great to see my senior runner achieve her personal best in one of her last races,” said LaForte.

 The top performance of the day for the Fish came from Junior Gina Battista, who placed 70th overall with a season-best time of 22:33.40.  PBA’s three other runners including Gabriela Rosado (22:47.66 – 73rd), Kelly Schwartz (24:31.36 – 87th), and Jenna Congdon (24:57.05 – 91st) finished shortly after.

The Lady Sailfish will travel again next Saturday, October 11, to compete in the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Florida.  The race will begin promptly at 8 am.
