WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team climbed to No. 4 in the nation this week after earning wins against Tampa and Rollins, moving up two spots from No. 6 in the latest national poll.
The Sailfish continued their strong Sunshine State Conference play with a pair of home victories last week, taking down Tampa before following with a win at Rollins. The two wins helped solidify PBA's position among the nation's elite as conference play intensifies.
PBA continues to thrive on the defensive end of the floor. The Sailfish are first in the SSC in team defense, with opponents scoring just 68.8 points per game and shooting an average of 38 percent from the field and 28 percent from 3-point range. PBA has been excellent protecting the rim, averaging over five blocks per game. Offensively, the squad leads the SSC in field goal percentage, shooting 51 percent from the field, leading the nation with 21 assists per game. The 'Fish also lead the league with an average rebounding margin of 10.9, including first in the nation in defensive rebounds per game.
The week ahead presents another major test, as the Sailfish hit the road for two conference matchups. PBA travels to face Eckerd on Wednesday before closing the week with a marquee showdown at No. 3 Nova Southeastern on Saturday, a matchup featuring two of the top teams in Division II.
