Men's Basketball Falls to UAH in NCAA South Regional

DAVIE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team took a tough loss on Saturday, falling to the University of Alabama in Huntsville 92-73 at Rick Case Arena in the NCAA South Region tournament.

The 'Fish had a hard time from beyond the arc, hitting just 8-of-24 attempts, while the Chargers found their rhythm, sinking 15-of-28 from deep.

Preston Le Gassick led with 12 points and four rebounds. Tyler Burton made an impact with four steals, 11 points, and seven rebounds. Graham Worland continued to shine, posting 16 points with two 3-pointers and three assists, notching his third straight game with at least 16 points. Blake Wilson also added 16 points and hit two from downtown.

The game kicked off with a strong play from the Sailfish, as Clay Payne delivered a dunk off a Le Gassick assist. Despite the early burst, the Chargers responded quickly, connecting on several key shots, including 3-pointers that turned the tide. The 'Fish fought back with crucial threes from Worland to keep it close.

As the first half unfolded, Alabama-Huntsville pulled ahead, capitalizing on turnovers and sharp shooting. However, the Sailfish mounted a late rally, highlighted by Le Gassick's fast-break 3-pointer, cutting the deficit to 41-39 by halftime.

The second half saw the Sailfish knot the score at 41 with a Le Gassick jumper, but the Chargers swiftly regained control with back-to-back threes from Matthew Thurman and Quentin Toles. Despite the 'Fish's efforts, including key contributions from Burton and Wilson, they couldn't bridge the gap.

Throughout the half, the Sailfish found moments of rhythm with baskets from Worland and Jakob Hester, yet the Chargers' consistent shooting and strong rebounding kept them ahead. The game wrapped up with a 92-73 victory for Alabama-Huntsville, as the Sailfish faced challenges in countering the Chargers' offensive output.

Today's game marked the first NCAA postseason game in postseason history. The Sailfish finish with season with a 26-6 record, including a 16-4 record in the SSC. PBA was ranked as high as No. 3 in the country before earning the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Regional. This season marked the most wins in PBA's DII-era.
