Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Sailfish are going dancing in the DII NCAA Men's basketball tournament. The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team was announced as the number two seed in the NCAA DII South Region. The bracket was released as part of the selection show, late Sunday night.
As the two seed, the Sailfish will take on the seven seed, University of Alabama in Huntsville in the first round. The game will be played on Saturday but tip-off time is currently TBA.
Under the leadership of fifth year head coach Cole Rose, The Sailfish finished the season with a 26-5 record and 16-4 record in conference play. This will mark the first time the Sailfish will play in the NCAA Tournament. The Sailfish made the regionals once before in 2019-20 and were slated to take on Valdosta State. However, the tournament was canceled due to Covid-19.
The Sailfish seemingly solidified their seeding with wins in the SSC tournament over Lynn and Florida Southern inside the Rubin Arena. PBA fell in the championship game to the #1 Seed and #1 team in the country, Nova Southeastern, in overtime by a score of 92-85. NSU hit a contested 35-footer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime and eventually took the hard-fought win.
All the games of the regional will be hosted at Nova Southeastern. Stay tuned to pbasailfish.com and @pbasailfish socials for continued coverage, tip-off times, and all details about this upcoming weekend's matchup.
