WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball coach Cole Rose announced on Tuesday, August 12 that Quay Kennedy will join the Sailfish as an assistant coach. Kennedy is a former Professional Basketball Player and decorated NCAA athlete who now dedicates his time to coaching, player development, and mentoring the next generation of hoopers.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue growing with Palm Beach Atlantic, both on and off the court," Said Kennedy. "This role is about more than basketball it's about building leaders, creating a winning culture, and giving back to the game that's given me so much."
A Columbia, Tennessee native, Kennedy began his college career at Lee University, where he quickly emerged as one of the top players in the Gulf South Conference. Across four seasons, he earned two First Team All-GSC honors, was named GSC Player of the Year (2021), selected to the NABC All-South Region First Team, and earned D2CCA All-South Region Second Team honors. In his standout junior season, he averaged 18 points and six rebounds per game, leading Lee as a two-way force with leadership and consistency. Kennedy then transferred to Lincoln Memorial University for his final year of eligibility, where he averaged 15 points and five rebounds per game, helping lead LMU to a 30–5 record, and a deep NCAA tournament run. He was named First Team All-SAC, Southeast Regional Most Outstanding Player, and helped power the team to a No. 3 national ranking.
"Quay was a tremendous player at Lee and Lincoln Memorial and won at a high level. I've always respected him because he worked so hard for everything he achieved in his career as a player and improved as much as anyone I've ever coached. My expectation is that he will bring that same attitude to coaching and will quickly be a rising star in this business. Our players are going to love him because he's been in their shoes and has always found a way to impact winning. We're so excited to have Quay in West Palm Beach!"
After college, Kennedy went on to play professionally with Imortal BC in Albufeira, Portugal, where he brought his versatile game overseas. In his first pro season, he averaged five points, three rebounds, two assists, and 1.3 steals per game, contributing on both ends of the floor. Returning to the States, Quay transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach and player development specialist at Lincoln Memorial University. He played a key role in recruiting, film breakdown, scouting, and in-game adjustments during back-to-back successful seasons that included two South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championships, a No. 5 national ranking, and the development of multiple All-Conference and Player of the Year athletes.
