LAKE WORTH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's track team did not have to travel far for its meet on Friday. The Sailfish competed at the Keiser Invitational at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School.
The Sailfish started the day with the 1500m race. The 'Fish took the first five spots in the event, with
Ethan Wattles leading the way in first place. Wattles finished at 4:05.90, two seconds shy of a personal record. He bested teammate
Hayden Tank in second place by five seconds. Tank narrowly missed a personal best by four-tenths of a second.
Jackson Overholt finished third, setting a new personal record of 5:12.70.
Michael Kirwan was right behind in fourth with a personal record of his own (4:12.80).
Hans Payne earned fifth with a time of 4:13.90.
Connor Wallace represented the Sailfish in the 400m race. Wallace set a new personal best, running a 51.97 to finish ninth in the event.
Joe Basara led the way for the Sailfish in the 800m. He finished less than a second slower than his PR, running a 1:56.13, finishing second in the race.
Reece Slater placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:57.06.
Carlos Santiago set a new personal record in sixth with a time of 1:58.91.
Jack Colvin (2:09.59) and
Andrew Duda (2:19.69) also represented PBA in the race. Colvin set a new season best in 14th while Duda placed 20th.
PBA finished the night with the mixed 4x400m race. Wattles and Wallace teamed with Amberleigh Sorensen and Hannah Atwell to finish third in the race, running a time of 3:56.50.
PBA track will compete in the first-ever Sunshine State Conference Championship meet on April 19 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
