Men's Basketball Rises To No. 3 in the Country

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -  The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team moved up to No. 3 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division II top-25 on Tuesday.
 
PBA moved up from No. 5 to No. 3, improving on the best ranking in program history. The Sailfish currently sit at 12-0 with a 4-0 record in the Sunshine State Conference. PBA's season is highlighted by a win over the former No. 1-team in the country Nova Southeastern on Dec. 13. This is the first time a team other than NSU was the highest ranked team from the Sunshine State Conference since Dec. 8, 2020.
 
PBA played three games last week, picking up wins over Warner, American International, and South Florida Bible College. The Sailfish are one of the most well-balanced teams in the country, boasting on over 90 points per game while holding opposing offenses to 66 points per game. The 'Fish rank No. 4 in the nation in field-goal percentage and eighth in opponent's field goal percentage.
 
PBA has three players averaging double-digits scoring. Preston Le Gassick averaged 20.2 points per game, the third most in the SSC. He is shooting 56 percent from the field and 47 percent from three, both top-three marks in the league. Tyler Burton is second on the team with 11.8 points per game and is second on the team with 33 assists. Alvin Tumblin Jr. is scoring 10.0 points per game with an efficient 68 percent field-goal percentage.
 
PBA is off for this week before returning for action on New Year's Eve. The Sailfish end 2025 with a tough test, taking on Florida Southern on the road. Tip-off in Lakeland is set for 4:30 p.m.
