LAKELAND, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic women's cross country team earned a runner-up finish at the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Saturday morning at Holloway Park.
 
The Sailfish scored 41 points, finishing just two points behind champion Tampa (39) and well ahead of third-place Nova Southeastern (57).
 
Beth Sykes led the way for PBA, placing third overall in 21:44.4 over the 6K course. Ruth Spijker followed right behind in fourth (21:45.0), while Jen Corroy took fifth (21:48.9) to give the Sailfish three runners in the top five. Dominyka Petraskaite finished 11th in 22:03.5, and Erin Regan sealed the team score in 18th (22:27.6).
 
Sykes, Spijker, and Corroy each earned all-championship team recognition. The trio also earned spots on the all-SSC first team. Petraskaite was named to the all-SSC second team.
 
Addison Galloway (31st, 23:11.9) and Nella Petersen (50th, 24:05.8) also competed for PBA, while Hannah Parker (69th, 25:06.8), Julia Kooyer (73rd, 25:23.5), and Harper Ethridge (80th, 26:05.2) rounded out the Sailfish lineup.
 
The second-place finish continues PBA's breakout season and positions the team for a strong showing at the NCAA South Region Championships on Nov. 8.
