Brown Breaks 100m Record at Bob Hayes Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's track team competed at the Bob Hayes Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of North Florida on Friday.

It was a long day for the Sailfish, with events ranging from 10:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.

PBA started its day strong in the 100m dash. Jared Brown broke the program record with a time of 11.33. He finished 19th in the race, finishing ahead of Nigel Simon from NCAA DI school Tennessee State. Brown later competed in the 200m race, earning 18th. He improved upon his second-best time in school history, running 23.02.

Josh McKay was PBA's best finisher in the 800m. He finished 15th with a time of 2:05.24. Andrew Duda was not far behind, placing 18th, running a 2:09.16.

Reece Slater led the way for PBA in the 1500m race. He placed 16th with a time of 4:02.45. Ethan Wattles followed in 22nd with a time of 4:08.87. Connor Wallace also represented the 'Fish in 36th, running a 4:39.44.

PBA ended the day with the 5000m race. Toinou Laigle was the top finisher with PBA in 13th, running a time of 15:23.80. Hayden Tank finished 24th in the race with a time of 15:45.58, entering the program's top-10 in program history in the 5k. Jackson Overholt (16:12.23) in 32nd, Nathan Yates (16:17.59) in 35th, Michael Kirwin (16:32.09) in 37th, and Miles Kennedy (17:51.24) in 47th also represented PBA in the race.

Sailfish track competes again on March 29 at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic in Daytona Beach.
