TAMPA, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's track team competed in its first meet of the season on Saturday at the Tampa Spartans Open.
Despite dealing with some rainy conditions, the Sailfish had a strong showing at the meet. The day was highlighted by Reese Slater making his Sailfish debut in the 800m race. He came out on top in the race with a time of 2:00.68, the sixth fastest time in school history.
Connor Wallace also competed in the race, finishing 12
th with a time of 2:12.55.
Andrew Duda also represented PBA, placing 22
nd (2:26.05).
The first event of the day for PBA was the 1500m.
Josh McKay was the lone PBA runner in the race. He finished 20
th with a time of 4:46.33.
Jared Brown represented PBA in the 200m. He ran a time of 24.35, good for eight place and tie the fifth-fastest time in school history.
The Sailfish had six athletes compete in the 3000m race.
Hayden Tank led PBA in 26
th with a time of 9:07.72.
Haile Buck earned 29
th with a time of 9:10.29.
Nathan Yates finished 34
th running a 9:13.90 pace.
Jackson Overholt (9:39.24) placed 44
th,
Michael Kirwan (9:45.61) earned 46
th, and
Miles Kennedy (10:04.51) finished 49
th to round out the PBA competitors.
Toinou Laigle finished the day for the Sailfish in the 5000m. He came in fifth place with a time of 15:00.34.
PBA track returns to Tampa on March 1 to run in the Tampa Distance Classic.
