Men's Basketball Ranked In Both National Polls

11/26/2024 5:56:00 PM

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball has been ranked in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 and the D2CSC National Top 25 for the first time since joining NCAA Division II.

PBA debuted in the poll at No. 23, finishing as the second-highest-ranked team from the Sunshine State Conference. The Sailfish sit at 5-0 on the season, including conference wins over Rollins and Florida Southern last week. This is the best start in PBA men's basketball history since 1974-75.

"I'm really proud of our guys for how they've competed so far this season," PBA head coach Cole Rose said. "This puts into perspective the progress we've made as a program; however, we still have a long way to go and have other goals we hope to accomplish by the end of the year."

The Sailfish are coming off a statement win over Florida Southern who was ranked No. 12/No. 8 in each respective poll last week. Reigning SSC Player of the Week Jamaal Walker secured the victory with a last-second buzzer beater to take down the Mocs, 79-77. PBA's Joshua Ward was also named SSC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

PBA looks to keep its momentum going after the holiday. The Sailfish compete in Florida Tech's Thanksgiving Classic, beginning Friday with a matchup against North Greenville at 7:00 p.m.
