DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic finishes 10th of 13 at the Embry-Riddle Invitational. The 5k course at Embry-Riddle was one of the more challenging courses the Sailfish have seen this year due to its numerous surface types and slopes. Palm Beach Atlantic runners were not hesitant to battle the course's hardships really pushed themselves in the absences of their top runner. The Sailfish runners will gain a lot from running this course as it is the location for the SSC Championships in November.
The Sailfish were led by Katie Kanagy who finished 37th with a time of 21:48. This is Kanagy's first time finishing as the top Sailfish runner in her early career. Jessica Lykins finished 61st with a time of 23:11 followed closely behind by Jessica Chavis with a time of 23:44 which gave her a 71st place finish.
Hannah Brook Gibbons was the next 'Fish across the finish line. Gibbons finished 79th with a time of 24:13. Other Sailfish finishers were Abagail Reburn (24:33 – 83rd), Hope Kanagy (24:54 – 85th), and Abagail Slater (26:24-98th).
The Sailfish will be back in action next weekend Saturday, Sept. 22 as they travel to Gainesville to compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida.
