Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis earned their third straight victory this season with a 7-2 upset win over No. 25 Valdosta State on Friday.
The Sailfish swept doubles play before winning the bottom four singles matches in their most impressive performance this season. In the seven wins the 'Fish were only challenged in one, at No. 1 doubles where the duo of Yuliia Russu and Taylor Conti held on for an 8-6 win over Sabrina Schmidt and Estee Widdershoven.
In singles play Michaela Mignemi didn't drop a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6. Bella Mermersky only dropped one game as she won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 while Johanna Kern and Taylor Conti also picked up victories.
Mignemi and Kern also picked up wins in doubles play as Mignemi paired with Romina Bolagay at No. 3 and Kern teamed up with Vanessa Buchbinder. Kern and Buchbinder picked up the win at No. 2, 8-2 while Mignemi and Bolagay won 8-1 at No. 3.
The Sailfish will have a quick turnaround as they take on No. 5 West Florida in Valdosta at 9 a.m.
