WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis was turned back in their opening Sunshine State Conference match, falling by a score of 8-1 to Rollins on Saturday.

The 'Fish were only able to pick up a win at No. 3 doubles as the duo of Michaela Mignemi and Romina Bolagay were able to defeat Teresa Kaiser and Marie Debruyn by a score of 8-5. Rollins was able to take the other two doubles by scores of 8-1 and 8-3.

In singles action the Sailfish were shutout with Bella Mermersky and Taylor Conti each able to take a set in their matches. Mermersky took the opening set at No. 2, 6-3 before falling 6-1, 6-3 in the final two sets to Alexandra Borg. Conti also took the opening set before dropping the final two. The set scores at No. 3 were 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

The Sailfish will play an exhibition match with Saint Thomas (Fla.) on Thursday at home before returning to regular season action on March 2 at home against Tampa at 3 p.m.
