Sailfish Strike Out 15, Defeat Lynn at Roger Dean Stadium

JUPITER, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball rode the right arms of their starting rotation on Tuesday night, as they struck out 15 batters en route to a 4-3 victory over Palm Beach County rival Lynn University at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.  The Sailfish improve to 4-4 on the young season with the win while the Fighting Knights fall to 5-2.

Mikhail Cazenave got the start for the 'Fish on Tuesday, and got off to a bit of a bumpy start, as he allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) in the first inning as Lynn took an early lead.  The 'Fish cut into the lead quickly however, as Connor Rowland led off the second with a triple to left-center field, and later scored on an RBI groundout by Mike Santaromita.

The 'Fish scored two more runs in the third inning to take the lead, as Rowland drove in Eddie Vicinanza with a single to left field and Santaromita drove in a run with another RBI groundout.

Cazenave got into some more trouble in the third inning, as some command issues allowed Lynn to load the bases with just one out.  The redshirt-senior escaped the jam however by striking out back-to-back hitters to keep the 'Fish ahead 3-2.  Cazenave then settled into a groove, as he retired the final 11 batters he faced on the night, throwing six innings, allowing just the two first-inning runs, and striking out nine Fighting Knight hitters.

The 'Fish added an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning, as Sailfish catcher Marcos Perez reached on an error and later scored on a Kyle Simon sacrifice fly to left.

The insurance run proved to be important, as Lynn answered with a run of their own off Sean Horner, who entered the game as a reliever for the first time this season.  Horner ended up striking out the final two batters of the inning though to keep the lead for the Sailfish.

Johnnie Schneider entered the game in the eighth inning for the 'Fish, and dominated the Lynn hitters for the final two innings of the game, striking out four and not allowing a hit to record his first save of the season.

Rowland finished as the lone PBA hitter to pick up multiple hits as the 'Fish were able to just collect four hits on the night.  Santaromita had productive at-bats as he finished with two RBIs.

The Sailfish will now travel to Pensacola, Fla. for three games this upcoming weekend.  The 'Fish will open up the weekend with Spring Hill College on Friday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. EST.
