Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis fell on Sunday afternoon to No. 11 Flagler College, as the Saints defeated the Sailfish by an 8-1 score. The Sailfish are finishing a tough weekend, where they lost three times to three teams ranked in the top-15 nationally.
The Sailfish were able to come away with a doubles victory on Sunday, as Pietro de Silva and Philipp Hoffmann defeated their opponents 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Bernardo Ferreira and Rodolfo Hasegawa lost 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Pato Zarazua and Thomas Salmon narrowly lost 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Zarazua got the start at No. 1 singles on Sunday, and gave Luca Bolla all he could handle, but fell 6-7, 6-3, 3-6. Hasegawa and Carlos Niemeyer also took their opponents the distance, but unfortunately both fell in tiebreaks on the day.
Hoffmann, Ferreira, and De Silva were overmatched on Sunday in their singles matches, as they all fell in straight sets.
The Sailfish will be back in action on Feb. 22, as they will host St. Thomas University in an exhibition match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
