Box Score

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball scored 50 points in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit in an 86-79 victory over Florida Southern on Saturday afternoon.

The 'Fish (11-13, 5-8 SSC) snapped a five-game skid in the process of taking down the Moccasins. Florida Southern falls to 12-9 overall and 6-7 in the SSC.

Grant Gullett scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down eight boards. The senior finished 9-of-12 from the floor and scored 12 of his points in the second half when he missed just two of his seven field goal attempts. Gullett broke a 79-79 tie with 1:36 to play that started a 7-0 run for PBA that eventually closed out the game.

The Mocs turned the ball over twice in their final four posessions while missing the front end of a one-and-one and also missed a three inside the final 10 seconds once PBA pushed the lead out to five. After Gullett's basket with 1:36 to play, the 'Fish made 5-of-6 at the free throw line with Matthew Johnson and De'Ondre Jackson teaming up to secure the victory for the 'Fish.

Despite the solid shooting at the end of the game, PBA struggled for the game at the line. The Sailfish finished 18-of-31 at the free throw line, 58 percent, while the Mocs shot 78 percent. The Mocs also connected on 12-of-31 from beyond the arc with PBA making just 4-of-14.

Jackson finished with 16 points for the 'Fish and was the only other PBA player in double figures. He connected on 6-of-8 from the floor. All 10 players that played ended up scoring for PBA in the game with Dakota Zinser and Lucas Morales each finished with eight. Bakari Warthen scored seven points and led the team with 10 rebounds. Matthew Johnson finished the game with a team-high four assists.

The Sailfish will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Barry University at 7:30 p.m.
