DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – No. 49 Palm Beach Atlantic faced a top-10 team for the third time this week and while the Sailfish had their best showing of the three they came up short again, falling to No. 10 Embry-Riddle, 8-1.

The ‘Fish (11-7) picked up their lone win in doubles play, as Rafael Lenz and Bernardo Ferreira improved to 11-4 on the season. The Sailfish duo defeated nationally-ranked No. 7 Carlos Becke and Deepak Vishavkarma 8-5. For Lenz and Ferreira it’s their second win in three tries against a nationally-ranked opponent.

At number three doubles Philipp Hoffmann and Stanislav Feofilov forced a tiebreak against Rodolfo Arreygue and Luke de Caires but ultimately fell short, 9-8 (7-1).

Despite being shut out in singles play the ‘Fish had some good showings, especially at the top of the lineup with Pato Zarazua. The top Sailfish player dropped the first 6-3 to Juan Ortiz Couder before taking the second into a tiebreak. Despite his best effort Zarazua was unable to pull out the win in the tiebreak, dropping the second 7-6 (7-1).

Down at number six singles Carlos Meneses went to a first set tiebreak against Mickael Faucher before losing 7-6 (10-8), 6-3. A similar story unfolded at the fourth flight as Ferreira fell to de Caires 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

The Sailfish will have the next week off before hosting Rollins on Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m. The match will be the final home match of the season before finishing up with a match at Florida Tech on April 15.
