No. 49 Men's Tennis Unable to Overcome No. 2 Barry

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 49 Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis was unable to overcome the second-ranked team in the country, falling to Barry University 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.

The Sailfish (11-5, 1-3 SSC) competed well at the top of both the singles and doubles lineup but ultimately came up short. In doubles it was Rafael Lenz and Bernardo Ferreira that hung with Ahmed Triki and Pierre Montrieul – the second ranked team in DII – but the Bucs (13-1, 3-0 SSC) pulled away at the end for an 8-6 win.

In singles the ‘Fish saw Pato Zarazua give Triki a tough match at the top spot in the lineup. Triki came in with a No. 2 ranking in the country and Zarazua fought tough in set one but it was Triki who picked up a 6-4 win. Zarazua bounced back to force a third with a 6-2 win in the second. In the third it was Triki who was able to pull out a 10-5 victory to win the match.

PBA will face another challenge on Saturday as they welcome in No. 3 Saint Leo to the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. match.
