Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic’s women’s tennis team had their three-match winning streak halted on Tuesday afternoon as the Sailfish fell to No. 6 Barry 9-0 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
PBA (9-7, 1-3 SSC) managed to win just one game in doubles play before slightly better results in singles action. Barry improved to 16-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Florencia Roncatti had the best showing in singles for the ‘Fish, winning seven games overall. Despite the effort Roncatti fell to Mara Cerrini 6-4, 6-3. Leoni Polzin was bumped up to the number one spot as PBA played without typical number one Valerie Nagovitcina. Polzin was unable to overcome Zuza Maciejewska who won 6-2, 6-1.
The Sailfish are back in action on Friday in Orlando as they take on Arkansas Tech at 5 p.m. The match was moved from Thursday to Friday due to forecasted rain for Thursday.
PBA will play at home on Sunday against Eckerd in a match that will also double as Senior Day. Before the match the ‘Fish will honor Nagovitcina, Maja Jovic and Dezi Bowman.
