Sailfish Fall 6-3 to Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Sailfish men’s tennis team dropped a key regional match Saturday afternoon to Rollins College by a 6-3 score. The loss drops the Sailfish to 10-5 on the season with just three matches remaining. All three remaining matches for the Sailfish are against top-10 nationally ranked teams.

The Sailfish struggled out of the gate Saturday, losing two of the three doubles matches. The Sailfish followed with losing four out of the six doubles matches.

Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister were the lone Sailfish winners on the afternoon as they combined for all three victories. Uryson and Burmeister defeated the Tars in No. 1 doubles 8-5 on the day. Uryson completed a three set victory at No. 1 singles, defeating No. 10 Anton Bettink 6-3, 1-6, 10-8. Burmeister defeated Casey Austgen at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3.

At No. 2 doubles, Nicholas Battistini and Asti Adams forced a tiebreak, but fell by a 9-8 (7-5) score. Pietro de Silva also put up a solid fight at No. 6 singles, falling 6-7 (7-2), 4-6.

The Sailfish return to the courts April 12, at 5 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla. as they take on Palm Beach County rival and No. 9 ranked Lynn University.
