Box Score ST. LEO, Fla. – The 35th ranked Palm Beach Atlantic University men’s tennis team was unable to pull an upset on Saturday, dropping their final road contest of the season to No. 2 Saint Leo, 9-0.
Fresh into the region rankings Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister took nationally-ranked No. 2 Alberto Barroso-Campos and Alex Theiler to the limit but lost 9-7. Thomas Salmon and Pietro de Silva had a good showing in the third doubles flight but lost to Guillaume Vanelven and Oskar Nurmio 8-5.
In singles play Carlos Meneses was the lone Sailfish to take a set, forcing a third-set super tiebreaker in the No. 5 position against Vanelven. Meneses dropped the first set 6-1 but bounced back to win 6-3 in the second. With the team match already decided, Vanelven won the super set tiebreaker 10-8 to take the match.
The Sailfish wrap up their season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against No. 42 Florida Tech. Seniors Asti Adams, Fernando Arroyo, Nicholas Battistini and Nicolas Uryson will all be honored prior to the match.
