Women's Tennis Falls Short Against Embry-Riddle

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis fell below the .500 mark Thursday, as they fell to Embry-Riddle University by a 7-2 score. The loss drops the Sailfish to 8-9 on the season while the win improves the Eagles to 8-8.

Embry-Riddle shutout the Sailfish in doubles play Thursday, winning all three matches. Teona Tatishvili and Michaela Mignemi put up the best fight, as they fell in No. 3 doubles 8-6.

Singles play was full of close matches on the evening, as three matches went the distance. Kathi Tesar fell to Hui Huang at No. 1 singles 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Valerie Nagovitcina also fell in three sets, by the score 6-7 (8-10), 7-5, 10-7. At No. 4 singles Maja Jovic fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-2. Taylor Conti and Michaela Mignemi picked up the two victories for the Sailfish Thursday, as Conti won 8-2 and Mignemi won 8-4.

The Sailfish will be back in action Saturday as they will play host to No. 34 Rollins College at 10:30 a.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
