Sailfish Shutout at Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – No. 5 Lynn University was too much for No. 38 Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday night, sweeping the Sailfish 9-0 at the Perper Tennis Complex.

The ‘Fish (8-8) were shutout for just the third time this season with Valerie Nagovitcina nearly pulling out a win at No. 2 singles. Nagovitcina dropped the first set 6-1 to nationally-ranked Diana Bogolii but came back to force a third-set tiebreak with a 6-3 win in the second. In the tiebreak it was Bogolii coming through with a 10-8 win.

Nagovitcina also had the best showing in doubles play along with Maja Jovic at No. 1. The duo fell to Rosalie Willing and Alina Jane 8-3. Kathi Tesar was the only other Sailfish to take a game in each set, falling at the top flight 6-2, 6-3 to Grace Mpassy.

The Sailfish have a quick turnaround as they host No. 31 Embry-Riddle on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
