Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 35 ranked Sailfish men’s tennis team defeated Eckerd College 7-2 on Thursday afternoon at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. The win improves the Sailfish to 9-4 on the season as the loss drops the Tritons to 11-4.
The Sailfish opened up the match winning two out of the three doubles matches. Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister won a nail biter Thursday, defeating Eckerd’s No. 1 doubles pair 9-8 (7-5). Thomas Salmon and Pietro de Silva picked up the other win for the ‘Fish in doubles, as they won 8-3.
The Sailfish dominated singles play Thursday, winning five out of the six matches. No. 16 Uryson defeated Victor Appleqvist 6-2, 6-2. Burmeister defeated James McManus 6-2, 6-2 as well. Nicholas Battistini had a solid performance as well, winning his match 6-0, 6-1. Salmon won 6-2, 6-2, while Stanislav Feofilov won at No. 6 singles 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 10-3.
The Sailfish will be back in action Saturday morning as they take on Florida Southern College at 10 a.m.
