No. 39 Sailfish Shutout Against No. 23 Academy of Art

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 39 Palm Beach Atlantic was shutout on Friday in their first action since coming back from California, falling to No. 23 Academy of Art University 5-0. Both teams are now 6-6 on the year.

The Sailfish shuffled their lineup without typical No. 1 Kathi Tesar and had to make changes to their doubles teams as well. Valerie Nagovitcina and Maja Jovic moved up to play No. 1 singles for the first time this year and fell to Annika Schneider and Alma Thell-Lenntorp 8-2. Taylor Conti and Teona Tatishvili were paired together for the first time this year and lost to Paula Alcantara and Michelle Dandik 8-4. Michaela Mignemi and Dezi Bowman also saw their first action together this season and had the best showing for PBA but ultimately fell to Taisiia Andrieieva and Gabriela Rivas 9-7 at No. 3.

Only two singles matches were completed as that game the Urban Knights a 5-0 team victory. Jovic and Bowman were the only two to complete their singles matches with Jovic falling at No. 3 6-3, 6-3 and Bowman dropping her match 6-0, 6-0. Both Nagovitcina and Tatishvili were leading in the second set of their matches before the match was called.

The Sailfish return to action on Monday as they host Hillsdale College at 4 p.m. at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
