Box Score DAVIE, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women’s tennis team was outmatched Friday afternoon, falling by an 8-1 final to the No. 7 ranked Nova Southeastern University. The Sailfish fall to 3-4 on the season with the loss. All four losses have come to ranked teams while three of the four have come to teams ranked in the top 10.
Teona Tatishvili was the lone winner for the ‘Fish, as she defeated her opponent in No. 4 singles 4-6, 6-4, (10-8). Michaela Mignemi also went three sets, but she fell in No. 6 singles 1-6, 6-3, (8-10).
The ‘Fish gave the Sharks all they could handle in doubles play to start the match. Kathi Tesar and Yoanna Peshev played at No. 1 doubles, and fell by an 8-5 final. Valerie Nagovitcina and Maja Jovic played No. 2 doubles, and fell 9-7 in a very closely contested pro-set.
The ‘Fish will be off for a week and a half before making a trip to California over Spring Break, where they will face off against five opponents from March 7-11, four of which are ranked.
