Adams Lone Winner as 'Fish Fall to Pirates

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 30 Palm Beach Atlantic men’s tennis suffered their first home loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-1 to No. 3 Armstrong State.

The Sailfish picked up their lone win of the afternoon at No. 4 singles as Asti Adams earned his first victory of the season. Adams came back from dropping the first set 6-1 to win the second 7-5 and taking the third 10-6.

In doubles play the top duo of Nicolas Uryson and Hendrik Burmeister battled tough before falling to #23 Otakar Lucak and Jan Porteset. PBA’s Nicholas Battistini and Adams fell at No. 2 doubles to the duo who are ranked second in the country, falling 8-4 to Pablo Gor and Ignacio Hernandez at No. 2.

Hendrik Burmeister had a strong showing in his first match against a nationally ranked opponent but ultimately lost to #29 Otakar Lucak 7-5, 6-2. Uryson, ranked #17, also lost his first matchup against a fellow ranked player, losing 6-2, 6-3 to #2 Pablo Gor.

The Sailfish will have an extended break before getting back on the court and hosting Saint Vincent College on March 1 at 4 p.m.
