Box Score
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic had their win streak snapped on Friday night against Eckerd College, with Josh Turner getting outdueled in a 2-0 loss at Rubin Park.
Turner pitched into the eighth inning and allowed just two runs while striking out seven along the way, but unfortunately was bested by Tritons’ hurler Jimmy Gutowski.
The Eckerd right-hander went eight and two-thirds innings and scattered nine hits, combining with Kyle Harding for the shutout. The duo struck out just four but didn’t allow a free pass all night.
PBA’s best offensive threat came in the last inning of the night, when Andres Vazquez and Brian Walker singled to start the frame. The Sailfish were unable to string anything else together after that however, and the Tritons left the field victorious.
Walker finished the night with two base knocks, while Sean Visconti and Pat Kane also went two-for-four. Palm Beach Atlantic had nine hits for the game but all were singles.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action on Saturday when they try to rebound against Eckerd, starting a double-header at noon.
