BOCA RATON, Fla. – Freshman Tyler Scheuer tossed a fantastic game for Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday afternoon against Lynn University, but unfortunately fell to a Knights’ rally in the late innings, 3-2 from the Lynn Baseball Field.
Scheuer, a native of Newtown, Pennsylvania, spun 7 2/3 masterful innings, scattering eight hits and walking just one while allowing only two earned runs.
LU rallied in the home half of the eighth inning against Scheuer, taking advantage of a hit by pitch and a walk with two outs. A double down the right field line just passed the diving effort of Ryan Drew rattled into the corner and allowed the go-ahead run to score.
The Sailfish scored their two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, getting two-out, RBI singles from both Elliott Gonzalez and Spencer Castro. Gonzalez finished the day 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with a walk to go along with two singles, and Castro finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, and run scored.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action this weekend against the University of Tampa, beginning with a single game on Friday night at 6:00 PM.
