LANTANA, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic made it five in a row in a rare morning affair with Assumption College on Thursday, topping the Greyhounds 9-7 from the Santaluces Sports Complex.
Junior Kennie Silvestri (Win, 3-2) tossed a strong eight innings for the Sailfish, scattering 10 hits and surrendering just four earned runs. Fellow junior Dominic Monda (Save, 5) came in to pitch the ninth and picked up his third save in three days.
The offense was clicking again for PBA, doing most of their damage with a three-run third and a four-run fourth. The third inning was highlighted by a Joel Buchko two-run blast that gave the ‘Fish a 4-3 lead. Just an inning later, Palm Beach Atlantic pounded out five hits in a span of six batters, including four straight singles that gave the hosts the lead for good.
Five Sailfish batters finished the game with multi-hit performances, led by junior Brian Walker who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two doubles. Ethan Perla, Chris Farrell, Joel Buchko and Spencer Castro each turned in two- hit performances. Buchko and Farrell did their jobs as run producers, knocking in five of the nine runs.
Today marked the fourth straight game that Palm Beach Atlantic has knocked out double-digit hits, and their fifth win in a row. The Sailfish finish up their six games in six days swing with a 5-1 record, pushing their season record to 11-11-1.
PBA returns to action Friday, March 21st when they take on Florida Southern College at 6 PM from Palm Beach Gardens High School.
