SAINT LEO, Fla. – The road struggles continued for Palm Beach Atlantic’s baseball team on Friday night, with host Saint Leo University knocking out 14 runs on 17 hits to double up PBA 14-7 from Thomas B. Southard Field.
PBA got on the board first thanks to a three-run first frame, but the Lions had other plans for the evening, notching a five-run third inning, three-run fifth inning, and a four-run eighth for insurance.
14 runs and 17 hits given up were a season high for Sailfish pitching, while the defense made three errors.
The silver lining on the night was once again the offensive performance for Palm Beach Atlantic, busting out 14 hits on the way to seven runs. Four ‘Fish had multi-hit performances, including Spencer Castro, Chris Farrell, and Patrick Nickler who all turned in three-hit efforts. Farrell and fellow junior Andres Vazquez popped their first triples of the season, while Vazquez finished the game 2-for-5.
PBA and Saint Leo return to action for a double header tomorrow afternoon, with the first pitch slated for 1:00 PM.
