Box Score
St. Petersburg, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic got another fine pitching performance from senior Nic Kovacs, but the offense could never find its groove, as the Sailfish fell to Eckerd College 2-0 at the Turley Complex on Friday night.
Kovacs tossed a complete game, the first for PBA on the season, while striking out six, walking two, and allowing two earned runs. The senior has allowed just five earned runs in 24 innings of work in this young season.
The Tritons got a run in each of the first two innings, and that would be enough to hold up against a PBA offense that only mustered four hits in the nine-inning affair.
Getting timely hits has been a staple of the Sailfish offense this season, but tonight the hitters went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position, and left eight runners on base.
Palm Beach Atlantic returns to action Saturday in St. Petersburg for the double-dip finale of the three game series against Eckerd. The bargain bill is slated to start at noon.
