Women's Tennis Opens Spring Break with Win Versus Bellarmine

HILTON HEAD, S.C.- Taking their annual trip north to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a week of collegiate tennis action, the Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team began play on Sunday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Bellarmine University. The win pushes PBA’s overall record to 6-4 on the season as they will begin a busy week of matches nearly every day.

Choosing to mix up his lineup somewhat, head coach Chi Ly saw his three doubles tandems supply the Fish with an early lead as all three were able to register victories.

Things could have been much different after doubles were completed however as Victoria Baca and Natalia Trotter held on for a 9-7 win at #1-doubles and Jessica Wharton and Jordan Ittersagen made things even closer at #2-doubles with a 9-8 (2) win. Vuokko Vahatalo and Katie Livesay won more comfortably at 8-2 at #3-doubles.

After splitting the first four singles matches with Vahatalo and Trotter winning at #2 and #3-singles respectively, the Sailfish saw dominating performances by Ittersagen and senior Krishna Domenech in the final two singles spots to claim victory.
