WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University women’s tennis team claimed their third straight victory on Wednesday afternoon by visiting cross-town rival Northwood University. The Sailfish had little trouble knocking off the Seahawks as they cruised to an 8-1 victory while sweeping the three doubles and winning all but #1-singles.
Senior Katie Livesay and doubles partner Amber Braaten closed out #3-doubles to begin the match with an 8-1 score followed by Victoria Baca and Natalia Trotter closing out an 8-2 win at #1-doubles. Vuokko Vahatalo and Jessica Wharton took a bit longer at #2-doubles but still managed to squeeze out a solid performance by winning 8-5.
Baca was the only PBA player to not register a singles victory as Fiorella Maggia took down Baca 6-3, 6-2 at #1-singles for the Seahawks only victory of the match.
Vahatalo and Priscila Durate battled tough at #2-singles with Vahatalo coming out ahead with a 7-5, 6-3 win.
Jordan Ittersagen and Krishna Domenech both dominated their singles matches on the day with straight set wins of 6-0, 6-0 at #5 and #6-singles respectively.
The Fish will be back in action at home on Friday, February 25th at 3 pm at Gaines Park.
