WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Throughout Saturday morning the Palm Beach Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University women’s tennis teams battled in a tight NCAA South Region duel. In the end, the #27th-ranked Sharks were too strong for the #34th-ranked Sailfish as NSU prevailed 7-2 over PBA at Gaines Park.
Jordan Ittersagen and Krishna Domenech teamed up for PBA’s only win in doubles action with an 8-4 win at #3-doubles while #1 and #2-doubles both fell to the Sharks 8-2 and 8-5 respectively.
PBA started off strong at the top in singles play with junior Lina Rubiano handing the opposition a hard-fought 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win at #1-singles however NSU would be too strong down the stretch as they took the next five matchups.
PBA women’s tennis is now 10-9 on the season while NSU improves to 7-11.
The regular season has now concluded for the Sailfish as they will await their postseason fate. PBA is scheduled to participate in the April 23-24th NCCAA South Regional Tournament with the NCAA Regional Championship slated for May 6-8.
